This rare original trade card advertises the White Anchor Fire Hose, a product of the Akron Rubber Works (later B.F. Goodrich). The image is of a firefighter using the hose to drive away a demonic arsonist. From Wikipedia: The first rubber article produced in Akron was fire hose. Dr. Goodrich before coming to Akron had seen a friend’s home destroyed by fire because the hose was so poor it had burst. In launching his new project in Akron he determined to make a fire hose that would stand up under pressure, and as result this hose, known as “White Anchor,” soon became famous. The reverse of this 3 3/8" x 5 1/8" is blank with some glue staining. Printed on card stock by Cosack & Clark of Buffalo. The top margin of the card is trimmed, and there is an ink smudge near the demon's foot - otherwise very good condition. Regular US Mail shipping charge of $2.50 includes shipment in a rigid plastic sleeve and photomailer, as well as trackable delivery confirmation. International shipping charge is $3.50. Please check my auctions regularly, as I will be listing more scarce/rare trade cards and other unusual ephemera, including a scarce trade card for the Warwick Fabric Fire Hose Co. that is now on ebay.
