Offered is an Al Mar Combat Smatchet. The Smatchet is a fighting knife based on the "cled" a Celtic short sword. The modern version was developed by Colonel Rex Applegate of the United States OSS and Captain William Ewart Fairbairn of the British Royal Marines during WWII. The Al Mar version has a hole on one side of the tang so the user can identify which of the two edges he is using even in the dark. This allows each of the edges to be sharpened individually for different usage, or as a back-up edge if one is dulled. This knife has a 6 in. long Zytel handle riveted to a full tang, drilled for a lanyard. The 6A stainless steel blade is 10 in. long by just under 3 in. wide, with a thickness of 5/32 in. Included with the knife is the original heavy Cordura nylon sheath, complete with embossed Al Mar logo. This knife and sheath are near mint, to mint condition. The blade still retains it's original factory edge, and is hair-popping sharp. This is one of the regular production models, so t is no serial number. PLEASE, read the description completely, look at the pictures carefully and ask all questions BEFORE bidding! I will NOT ship outside the United States, so please...don't ask! Insurance is required, and is included in the S&H charge. E-mail me with any questions you may have, and I'll answer them to the best of my knowledge. Thanks for looking! My apologies to those of you who bid on this knife in the first auction. I realized I had made a mistake in the listing, and the ebay format wouldn't allow me to make the changes without ending the listing first.
