ALBERT EINSTEIN . Ink signature "A. Einstein." on an off-white slip of paper that has been attached to a page. The page also contains four other cut signatures of Prince and Princess zu Loewenstein, Stephen S. Wise, and Mrs. Florentine S. Sutro. These signatures were to be used as a letter closing for the American Guild for German Cultural Freedom in 1937. The page measures 5" by 4" and is in overall fine condition.ALBERT EINSTEIN INK SIGNATURE TO BE USED AS A LETTER CLOSING FOR THE AMERICAN GUILD FOR GERMAN CULTURAL FREEDOM IN 1937The American Guild for German Cultural Freedom was an aid organization that provided an intellectual and practical base to ensure that German writers, artists, scientists, and academics were able to continue their work in exile. The American Guild was founded as part of the German Academy in Exile in the United States in 1935. Prince zu Loewenstein founded and operated the organization, Thomas Mann was the President of the Academy's literary section, and Sigmund Freud was the Chairman of the scientific section. The last official board meeting of the American Guild took place in January 1941.Three similar Albert Einstein signatures recently sold at RR Auction for $4,246 in January of 2013, $3,203 in December of 2013, and $3,957 in October of 2016.
