Please review the images below.) Information: This group of extraordinarily rare, first edition, folio engravings is from Ulyssis Aldrovandi’s Monstrorum Historia . The work was published between 1642 and 1657 in Bologna, Italy by N. Tebaldini for M. A. Bernia. As indicated by the title, the woodcut engravings in this work feature often imaginative fantastic and strange creatures including deformed humans and animals. Aldrovandi was an Italian botanist, pharmacologist, and noted author. He channeled much of his life’s work into collecting, writing and illustrating different biological specimens.
