Calder's graphic, linear and imaginative style is distinctively captured in this work. The work contains five circular forms--three small black circles, one medium orange, and one large red. Each of the circles is grounded by a thin tail of the identical color, the red circle containing three of these tail-like features. The tails give movement to circles, like a plane emitting an air stream, or a balloon attached to its string. Inexplicably, the tail of the uppermost black circle has become intermingled with the red circle and created a new tail. Their mysterious convergence adds intrigue to the piece.
