(76.2 cm x 55.88 cm) Condition: Shrink wrapped and mounted on acid-free board.Original 1968 LITHOGRAPH entitled "BALLOONS"ORIGINAL Alexander Calder LITHOGRAPH made from the original painting he did in his studio in 1968 Composed of orange, red, and black, the simplicity in color and shapes make Balloons a vibrant, playful and striking piece. Calder's graphic, linear and imaginative style is distinctively captured in this work. The work contains five circular forms--three small black circles, one medium orange, and one large red. Each of the circles is grounded by a thin tail of the identical color, the red circle containing three of these tail-like features. The tails give movement to circles, like a plane emitting an air stream, or a balloon attached to its string. Inexplicably, the tail of the uppermost black circle has become intermingled with the red circle and created a new tail. Their mysterious convergence adds intrigue to the piece.
