This listing is for shown self portrait silhouette by Alfred Vance Churchill, signed by him and 1939. Pen and ink drawing on paper. Looks great for its age, clear image, damage and repair free-see long condition report and several photos above. Will be carefully packaged and fully insured. Just acquired from a local estate collection of period silhouettes and original art work.Paper is just under 5 1/2" wide, 7 5/8" tall. He was the son of Charles Henry Churchill, a professor at Oberlin College and his second wife, Henrietta Vance Churchill. After studies at Oberlin he studied art in Berlin, Leipzig and Paris from 1887-1890. He directed the art department at Iowa College from 1893-1897, taught art in the High and Normal Schools of St. Louis.
