What a find! I'm so happy to share this item with my bidders. Most of us know Alice Leverett either personally or know of her outstanding reputation as a doll creator and seamstress! This wonderful presentation of NOUVEAUTE DE PARIS was created by Alice for a ticketed theme-dinner event, Evening at the Opera , at the 2007 UFDC convention held in Detroit. Attached to the card are delightful items for your reproduction or antique French Poupee appropriate for a fashion doll of 12" to 16". " Attached to the card are 12 items for your French fashion doll! At the top left corner of the card is a gold and black silk brocade purse. Directly beneath the purse is a folded silk hanky with delicate embroidery along the edges, and immediately to the right of the hanky is a dainty perfume bottle. Beneath the hanky is a pair of black lace fingerless gauntlet gloves. Moving to the center of the card at the top, is a "program" from the opera Carmen nestled beneath a gold-tone metal lorgnette and a folding fan. Directly beneath these items is a floral wreath or coronet with garland, made of dainty silk roses trimmed with faux pearls, to be worn on your poupee's head. Proceeding to the top right corner of the card is a rigid black silk fan decorted with roses and silk fringe, attached to a "faux" ebony stick. Below the fan to the left is a pair of tiny genuine seed pearl earrings, which match the 11th and 12th items (also made of tiny genuine seed pearls), a bracelet and necklace. The necklace has a beautiful pink crystal pendant, a perfect match to the pink embroidery on the hanky, the roses in the coronet, the rose on the perfume bottle, and the rose on the rigid fan. This is the most amazing presentation I've seen, and so reflective of the Victorian era. Mrs. Leverett's eye for detail and beauty, and the accuracy of her creations are amazing! You might have also noted a "gold disk" with the number 2 written on it. This was actually given to us at the Evening at the Opera dinner event to hold for the drawing for the table's centerpiece; the winner at our table happened to be my late Mom. This is a wonderful item to keep on display, or to detach from the card for your Poupee's use. There is a card inside the box with instructions on how to detach these fabulous items if you so choose. The items are finely presented in a box measuring 7-1/4" X 5-3/8" X 1-1/8", and on the lid is a "lithograph" of the opera house and Evening At The Opera . There is a reserve on this auction; please don't ask me to divulge that information. I'm not being rude or evasive, it simply is my policy not to divulge reserve prices on active auctions. This item has been stored in a trunk for the past 7-1/2 years and is in perfect condition, no odors, dust or soiling, but as always, I do inform potential bidders that it comes from a non-smoking environment with feline residents. This item will be shipped to the winning bidder in the US by insured Priority Mail or insured First Class Mail if eligible. I have included a handling charge to cover the cost of insurance. However, those of you who have won my items in the past know I do refund excess shipping fees if I've overestimated shipping and insurance charges. I will ship to international destinations by either Priority Express International or Priority International Mail. I do not ship international packages by first class mail.
