William Skeen (1818-1893), of Alleghany Co., VA. Catalog Notes: Catalogue Note: William Skeen was a prominent lawyer in Covington, Alleghany Co., VA during the 19th century. He served as Commonwealth Attorney of the county and Provost-Marshal during the Civil War. Skeen served on several important boards and in other public capacities. Virginia reconstruction governor Gilbert C. Walker appointed Skeen brigadier-general of the State militia in 1872.
