"Hot Rod" Alnico V Staggered Pole Single Coil Guitar Pickup Set For Stratocaster Style Guitars - Cream or White Covers Ironstone have been selling exclusive specification Alnico V pickups to great reviews (see below) since the beginning of 2010, with the simple mission; "The coolest Vintage tones with outstanding value and service" This auction is for one set (of 3) of the top of the range Platinum Grade "Hot Rod" style pickups featuring hotter pickups in the neck and middle (6.2K) and a real spanking hot rod in the bridge (7.7K) position. Alnico (aluminum / nickel / cobalt) was used in all popular vintage pickups. Whilst more expensive than ceramic, Alnico magnets generally give a warmer, fuller, tonal response and tend to a smoother distortion tone with a more prominent midrange than ceramic. Alnico V is the best Alnico pup magnet grade / quality. This combination of higher resistance pickups is particularly suited to playing styles that emphasize gritty higher output Blues or Classic Rock tones, yet are still able to produce silky smooth warm tones when dialled back a little.
