Here we have a great example of an Altec 417-8h. There's a bit of dust as this has been in a combo for about twenty years, and the rear sticker started to come away some years ago, but as can be seen the speaker itself is in excellent condition, and sounds crystal clear. These are fantastic speakers, really clear and wide ranging in tone. More neutral than a JBL, and with much stronger bass, but retaining clear but not piercing highs and glassy mids. Definitely one of the best guitar speakers ever made, incredible construction with a heavy duty aluminium frame. These came as stock in early Mesa Boogies, are essential that distinctive and pioneering sound, as used by Keith Richards and Carlos Santana among others. They were also used in Fender Twins for a period, and are actually keen to Randy Rhoads tone. Link to the spec sheet here . Additional pictures at the bottom.
