This newspaper contains 4 pages (out of 8) with black bordered "mourning rules" in their columns showing the assassination atttempt on the life of a famous person (in this case it was President ABRAHAM LINCOLN). This has prominent bold inside page headlines: "HIGHLY IMPORTANT / The President Shot !" with 3 columns of "breaking news first report" of the ASSASSINATION of PRESIDENT ABRAHAM LINCOLN at Ford's Theater in Washington, DC on the night of April 14, 1865. There are 11 dispatches from the Tribune's news reporters covering the assassination of Lincoln, one of which reports (in error) that Lincoln had died at 11:45 PM on April 14 (he had NOT ). In addition there are prominent headlines on the back page: "POSTSCRIPT / 4:30 O'clock am/ LATEST / The President Just Alive at 3am / OFFICIAL ACCOUNT" with 4 more dispatches with detailed coverage of the ASSASSINATION of LINCOLN.
