Hi I am Steve Pfeiffer, author of the book Collecting Case Knives - Identification and Price Guide , published by Krause Publications. I have been collecting Case and other brands of antique pocket Knives since 1973. I am offering some fine collectible pocket knives for sale.In all of my years of collecting and documenting Case knives and related items, I have never seen another sample case like this one. Based on the high quality materials and construction, I believe that this case dates from the pre-WWII era, or the 1950's at the latest. The case was designed to display household knives, scissors, and shears. Case sales representatives would use fine cases like this to display their wares in hardware and department stores to prospective store owners and buying managers.Leather exterior, the case measures 16 ½ inches by 13 ½ inches folded, and 44 inches by 16 ½ inches when opened. The interior leather straps and the green velvet interior are all in great condition. The only defect is that the exterior leather buckle end is split open (see photos) with the metal piece missing.Included is a full set of eight (8) older CASE XX steak knives. Case called this steak knife set the Beefeater Eight . This is a rare superbly crafted steak knife set.Case offered the Beefeater Eight set from the mid 1950's until 1982.
