Up for auction is a beautiful handcrafted Blenko pitcher. This is one of those very limited pieces that come to the Visitor's Center on occasion. I found it, and several other neat items, as the store was stocking up for the WV Day Celebration. The shop was full of great, limited items as well as the regular beautiful pieces. This piece is 2011 production, like the Stained Glass series made in 2004-2005. I was told they made a few for a special order, and I assume the "extras" came down to the VC for sale. I was there when these were put out- there was one pitcher and 3 bowls. There may be a few more- I don't know, but at any rate these are extremely limited. This pitcher has the hand applied strips of color. One one side, a large, very pale blue stripe, on the other side are several other colors. Of course, it being a clear pitcher, the colors show through. It does hace several bubbles, which appear to be a result of the color striping. No surface bubbles, chips or cracks. The handle is nicely applied and very nicely shaped. It is sandblasted with Blenko 2011 on the bottom and the hand trademark. . It is a really neat conversation piece!
