Since ancient times small Uzbek handicrafts took one of the main places in daily lives of all kinds of people. Silk handmade embroidery is an inalienable part of Uzbek traditions and culture. Offered here is the Lakay household bag. The item came from the Southern Uzbekistan. Circa: the second part of the 20th century. It is embroidered with Iroki - the cross-stitch technique. In Iroki technique, the background is entirely filled with cross-stitches; the backing fabric is starched gauze. The crosses are so tiny that they are difficult to make out with the naked eye and form an even, grainy surface. This tiny embroidery is called Tirma -gathered together. The pattern of the emroidery is composed of the fascinating medallions surrounded by mysterious Lakay elements. The item is decorated with silk tassels. The item is lined with organic cotton & silk velvet fabric. This bag with outstanding Lakay design is a wonderful demonstration of superior craftsmanship of Uzbek-Lakay embroideries.
