This is a young man in a coming of age portrait. He is wearing an early form of a tuxedo and early form of bow-tie. Very interesting image. I have never seen someone in this formal of attire in an Ambrotype, tintype, or Daguerreotype. The case is tooled leather and has come apart as they normally do. The boy is roughly 15 with a lot of freckles and painted cheeks/lips.
