An American Aesthetic Carved Cherrywood and Walnut Sideboard, late 19th c., attributed to Herter Bros., dentillated cornice above carved and glazed doors, raised panel back, vasiform supports; three dentil molded drawers above three carved paneled doors, conforming molded base, height 86 in., width 77 in., depth 25 in.Note: Several elements on this cabinet relate to those from other known Herter examples from 1875-1885. The lozenge escutcheon on the lower cabinet, "Herter Bro's" incised stamp and three digit inscription on the back relate closely to those on a cherry, maple, walnut and satinwood cabinet at the Art Institute of Chicago (1986.26).Reference: Howe, et. al.
