Hello, I am offering a beautiful American Belleek Tankard, Stein or Mug. It is hand painted with poitrait of an Indian Chief, with a light bluish floral background. I thought this was a unique combination, because the flowers are in the Art Nouveau style. This is signed by the artist,"F.R. Bennett." History: The mark is from the Ceramic Art Company. C.A.C. In 1889 Walter Lenox partnered with Johnathon Coxon to found this company. It operated from 1889 to 1906. It was organized as an art studio, rather than a factory, and offered one-of-a-kind artwares in beautiful ivory china, rather than a full line of ceramices. These ceramics were carried in the most exclusive shops. By 1897 examples were included in the Smithsonian Institution. Later this company went on to become LENOX. Condition. T are 3 tiny chips along the rim. They can be seen in the last photograph. The large darkest area is w the paint trim over laps to the rim. It is not a chip. The chips seem to have been t for a long time, because they are quite smooth. I do not think they distract from the beauty of this truely antique piece.T is no crazing or cracks. It needs to be washed. I decided to leave that up to the purchaser. Size: It is 7 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter at the base. The mouth of the stein is 3 inches in diameter.
