AMERICAN CAVALRY SABRE 1790-18120I hope all are safe and healthy. See my other auctions.A super example of a great early American saber. This is a fairly unique example but bears close resemblance to Maryland contract sabers in the grip and has elements Virginia manufactory Sabers in the asymmetrical slotted guard. The double fullered blade may be a cut down Virginia manufactory Saber blade. The blade is 33 inches and shortened at the ricasso end so started a bit longer. The sword has no markings, shows old cleaning, a couple of light edge nics and is other wise untouched. The grip shows extensive use but is completely intact, both leather and wire and the blade is frim and without evidence any repeening on the hilt to tighten it up.
