This 1938 issue American Flyer 2-4-2 die cast metal boiler with brass piping O Gauge 9 1/2 inch locomotive with 3199 tender is in very good original condition although one rear cab roof corner has a slightly bent corner. This may be the more common or less desirable version of the 4615 locomotive tender combination in the 1938 catalog. It is a shorter 8 1/2 inch long boiler length than the rare longer version boilers on the 2-4-4 versions which had a Vanderbilt style tender. I have test run this and the motor runs well but the reversing unit is a puzzle to me. I am only able to chnage its state from neutral buzzing to motor running by hitting the Lionel whistle button which transmits a DC pulse. In any case you have thirty days to return it if you want to work on it. I get to pay the return postage if you give up on the reversing unit or regret any aspect of the item whether it is obvious now or not.
