Shed some light on your American Flyer layout with these two nice floodlight cars. The two cars are very representative of two distinct eras in the A.C. Gilbert production of American Flyer S gauge. The #934 Southern Pacific Floodlight Car was an uncataloged item that was made only in 1954, It is a heavy diecast car with knuckle couplers and is typical of the high-quality cars Flyer produced in the mid-50s, the high point for Gilbert Flyer. The #24549 Erie Floodlight Car is more colorful but is made of lightweight plastic and has Pikemaster couplers. It is typical of the cars made as the Gilbert Flyer product declined in quality in the 60s. The lights work on both cars and the couplers work well on both cars. There is some paint flaking on the floodlight of the #934 but otherwise both cars are in very good condition.
