Up for auction is an AMERICAN FLY ER S gauge # 9 62 chrome plated HA MILTON dome car and box. (This is the second of two #962 we are offering this week.) I have always been a fan of th ese cars when chrome plated but typically the chrome plating goes bad and the car develops areas of discoloration and o ften black spots. Howeve r, the plating on this car has held up fairly well. The sides , ends and roof of the car are clean and bright and might look even better with a caref ul cleaning. However, i n looking at the s econd ph oto you will notic e something got on the side of the car so there is a mark in the chrom e and part of the letter "F" is missing . Both identification pla tes a re in good condition but the rivet s holding them in place ha ve some s urface rust as do the w eights on each coupler . The box has all end flaps on one end and only the end and no fl aps on the o ther end . While not perfect, it you have a set of these cars with good chrome plating, this car might make a nice addition that would allow you to increase the length of your train .
