I'm parting out an O gauge American Flyer 556 The Royal Blue engine. These are two running 556 motor chassis with e-units. The one with the old style e-unit has a chassis and wheels with no diecast rot. The e-unit does stick sometimes, and the chassis has a hole drilled under the e-unit, from a repair by a lousy repairman, because there is a screw holding the coil to the e-unit frame. The hole cannot be seen when the e-unit is in place. The lockout lever has been tampered with and has some metal soldered to it. They also filed the two nubs under the e-unit about half off, not a problem if the chassis goes in a Royal Blue, you don't use them anyway, they were for the chassis of the 561, for the light bulb holder. The side rods are on the chassis but the left one has been tampered with and the other is discolored on one end. The chassis with the newer style e-unit has some diecast rot starting and the wheels on the right side have the rot in them, the left side look OK. The e-unit functions well. Both chassis have the pick-up sliders and the black surrounding part is good on both. I would use the newer style e-unit in the good chassis if I were you, you just need to tap the two screw holes by the old e-unit, holes are there, just not threaded. If you need a Royal Blue chassis that don't have diecast rot, or need good wheels, or motor read more
