This is one top notch, super looking, 40' Plug Door Boxcar. This "S" Scale Miller High Life "Plug Door" Boxcar was manufactured by American Models. Sliding door boxcars were basically the build standard prior to WWII. It wasn't until after the war that many railroads experimented with the use of plug doors, similar to those used on may refrigerator boxcars. The tight seal of the plug door, accompanied by insulated sides, ends, floor and roof panels, allowed these new boxcars to carry perishables where temperature control was important but refrigeration wasn't necessary. The car is new and so is the original American Models box with styrofoam insert it comes in. This Miller High Life plug door boxcar has a Road Number of MHLX 80345 and a Built Date of 6-54. There are no marks, scratches, missing or broken parts on this unit. The lettering on the car is crisp and clear. This "weighted" plug door boxcar is about 8-3/4" in length including couplers. This outstanding piece of rolling stock has metal wheels and axles.
