an alphabet sampler with verse below, contained within a floral border, worked by Sarah Elizabeth Foster aged 9 years Roxbury, Mass. AD 1829, silk on linen; 15.5" x 16" (w/o frame), 19" x 19.5" (w/ frame); PLUS an alphabet sampler bearing the names Eliza Moseley Born Nov 26th 1803 and Phebe Moseley Born Aug 28th 1810. A brief family history attached to verso, silk on linen, matted and framed; 6" x 20.5" (sight), 10.5" x 25" (w/ frame).Condition: Both with moderate losses, toning, old repairs and staining. Not removed from frame.
