MUSEUM QUALITY c1850 AMERICAN STERLING SILVER HAND CRAFTED TEAPOT; STUNNING ANCHOR & CONCH SHELL FINIAL; FINEST HAND CHASED STREAMING FLORAL DECORATION; VINE FORM, LEAF AND GRAPE CLUSTER HANDLE; NEVER MONOGRAMMED This is a museum quality, mid 19th century American sterling silver teapot. Monumental in size. Unsigned. The work closely resembles that of John C. Moore, late 1840s. When he was supplying fine silverwares to Tiffany, among others. Executed in urn form on raised pedestal base. Meticulously repoussed streaming leaf, floral and vine decoration. The foliates encircle the teapot mid-body, neck, base and lid. Texture and panel engraved. Masterful hand chased detail throughout. Two leaf and floral framed oval medallions, unmonogrammed. Rich, beaded trim to neck, shoulder and base, in varying guage. Elegant, leaf cap, leaf and bead form spout. Most unique. Layered and turned, heavily chased acanthus mount. Even more breathtaking, vine form, leaf and grape handle. Clusters of grapes cascading downward. Heavily chased. Original ivory heat stops. Handle perfectly secure. Top hat, domed cover. Thick, book end hinging, in fine state. Finished with beautifully detailed leaning anchor and conch shell finial. Never monogrammed. The teapot is quite large, 12 1/2 inches tall,12 inches handle to spout.
