America's Cup Yacht America 1st Day Cover America's Cup Yacht America Stamp... On September 15, 1980, the USPS issued an imprinted envelope with the imprint or stamp commemorating the America's Cup. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover , an envelope with the Yacht America "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (Newport, Rhode Island) on the first day of issue captioned above. The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the schooner America and the iconic America's Cup, the oldest international prize in sailing, in the background. The picture is printed on silk , the luster lending an-almost three-dimensional look to the picture. Double matted in blue & white , this piece is matted to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
