Sunshine and Shadows Quilt Trip Around the World Hand Quilted Lancaster PA styled Amish quilt . Lancaster County Quilt Creations , Amish styled museum quality Antique Reproduction For many years , one of the most sought after style of Pennsylvania Amish quilts were the traditional pattern of Sunshine and Shadows. The "English called this pattern " Trip Around the World. It has been quite popular since Before the turn of the 20th century with examples known into the 1880's. In recent years these have become increaseingly difficult to find , as they are quite a chore to properly create . Our version of this timeless creation was inspired by one of the best examples of this classic style of quilt that I had seen in years. I came across the original in an Antique shop in central Pa, back in the late 90's , The owner allowed me to take some photos as I we were unable to come to a agreement on the purchase of his fine quilt. The exquisite choice of the scale of the design, the fine quilting and the choice of colors is what made his quilt so wonderful. Our version follows the original design to prefection. The large central Traditional Sunshine and Shadows design is girded off into Diagonal 1-1/2? grids thru the points of every other row of the blocks. These grids are quilted with some Beautiful hand quilting of about 6-7 stitches per inch. The Border Framing that goes around this central Sunshine and Shadows design is quilted in a triple cable design that is quite traditional to Amish quilts of this period. Small Baskets are quilted into the corners of this Hunter green borders corner blocks for enhacing the originality of this wonderful quilt. The reverse side of this beautiful quilt is a solid Imperial Purple , which accents the nice quilting which adorns this quilt. This quilt artfully reproduces the Original Amish quilt that was made in Lancaster , Pa circa 1920-1925. The size of this quilt is approximately 88 x 88The fabrics are all 100% Cottons, The batting is a low loft Poly blend as to reproduce the look and feel of an Antique Quilt is highlighted to its fullest.
