RARE AN/GSS-9 ANTI INTRUSION ALARM SET, RESTRICTED AREA MILITARYWhen I purchased this unit it appeared to be new and never used. It has some scuff marks from being out of the package. I have NEVER used it, just stored it away. It comes with one spool of hair-like thin trip wire and the operators manual. From research it appears that this unit was the production model issued around 1967 to Special Forces. Research also has shown that this unit is EXTREMELY RARE!!!!!!!!!!Writing on the side shows: "GSS-9-0353" and "4-7-88".I have also discovered the following information concerning a seller of the pre-production prototype units that were issued to the Special Forces around 1962. That information is as follows:"The AN/GSS-9(XE-1) Alarm Set Experimental Prototype, circa 1962,This is a very early Fort Monmonth Experimental Pre-Production Prototype Special Forces Intrusion Alarm Set AN/GSS-9(XE-1) used for guerilla and counter-guerilla intrusion detection applications.It is exceptionally difficult to locate prototype units of Special Forces equipment. This is a very rare find. It is complete with the original alarm box and three spools of hair fine copper wire pair complete with shorting clips and an original preliminary Technical Manual numbered with a Fort Monmouth control number MON 5398-62.
