This is an auction for a booklet from Dearborn, Michigan entitled "An Historic Landmark" "No Future Without a Past" "Dearborn, Michigan". It measures 5 1/4" by 7 1/4" (the cover is slightly larger than the inside pages) and has 20 inside pages. The purpose of the publication is spelled out on the Forward on page 5 - "The purpose of this booklet is to interest the people of Dearborn in the purchase of the "Sutler's Shop," the only part of the old Dearborn Arsenal remaining in its original condition." "If you want to encourage this project, send communications or telephone Matthew Morris, 240 Nowlin Road. Telephone Dearborn 382." Besides historical text, the pages contain browntone pictures of the building, historical documents, and pictures of Henry Dearborn. The last page sums up the history of Dearborn with "Dearborn's First boom Caused by building the Dearborn Arsenal, named for Henry Dearborn." Dearborn's Second Boom Caused by Henry Ford, who built the great Ford Industries" "What do we owe to General Henry Dearborn? A Monument to His Memory. What do we owe to Henry Ford? A Monument in the Hearts of the People. Why not 'carry on'?" It is undated, but I would guess fromt he phone number and overall look and feel of it, it could date from the late 1920s to 1930s. It is in very good, undamaged condition. It is a very interesting read more
