Semires studied painting at Peru's Escuela Nacionale des Bellas Artes, from which she graduated with the highest honors in 1989. She followed up these studies by earning a second degree, one in etching, from the ENBA. Semires is known in large part for her eloquent use of light and color to create vibrant, expressive, and powerful impressionist paintings. She has become very popular in Peru, exhibiting her artwork in group and solo shows around the country. She has earned numerous accolades and awards and her success has, at last, brought her art to the United States.
