Ancient alabaster bowl 2 1/8 " tall x 2 7/8" across mouth Some pits to surface.The bowl was sold to me as ancient Egyptian but I have my doubts. It could be from various Near Eastern cultures over a wide span of time.The alabaster is not as as translucent as a lot of the alabaster bowls I have seen are.Of the things I am currently auctioning I think I know alabaster the least. Most of the alabaster pieces I have seen have either been from the classical world or from BMAC. This piece doesn't quite fit.The walls of the bowl widen quite a bit as they near the base. I don't know if that is unique to a particular culture or just to the artisan.Heavier than it looks.Please examine all photos.After a long self-imposed exile from eBay Bungalowbil is having a 'clean out the closets' sale ( I believe this comes as good news to Mrs. Bungalowbil ).On many of the items ( like this one ) I am having no reserve auctions that are starting at prices much less than what I originally paid for the item.If you have any questions or want more photos please feel free to ask.Paypal preferred.Items in my auctions will be sent US Mail unless otherwise noted or if buyer prefers another mode of shipping.
