You are bidding on an extremely rare Ancient Roman Caduceus Ring! The Caduceus symbol existed since early Greek days and lasted through the Roman period, and even through today. It is the international symbol of medicine. This rare collector's item is made of bronze and was coated with silver. Through polishing, most of the silver is gone, but some remains inside the shank of this interesting piece of history. This beautiful ring is complimented with an "evil eye" shaped bezel (thought to ward off jealousy) with a beautifully inscribed caduceus surrounded by an accent impression. The shank is solid with thickened extended shoulders. This is one of the best caduceus rings we have encountered, and we have encountered less than five in our lives. T exists some pitting and degradation typical of archaeological finds yet this ring is solid, thick and wearable with no cracks. We received this ring encrusted with a thick black patina. This is quite the impressive piece. It is unfortunate that the "popular" jewellery of today is manufactured by production lines with no significance or importance. All too many jewellers of today suffer with such a lack of imagination forgetting that soulful individuals will accent their lives with their jewellery for many years.
