You are bidding on an impressive sturdy pure silver Roman Snake Ring. The person who owned this must have been quite an interesting person. If you will notice, the last photo of this ring is prior to cleaning and polishing, but it will come to you with more of its original lustre, as it has been extensively cleaned and polished. This ring is beautifully decorated with a sincle piece of silver formed into a double headed partially coiled snake! Snake rings are a very rare and enjoyable find! Ancient rings, from those examples that have survived, prove to be a trove of imagination and variation. In ancient days, a ring distinguished an individual in ways that other forms of jewellery did not. Rings represented the language of social code and portrayed one's standing.
