Maximillian Helm Crafted by true masters, this piece of armour is a fully wearable museum quality reproduction of an authentic European Helm. This Maximilian Helm (Named after the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II) is a true blending of German and Italian styles of Armour and is characterised by its use of folds within the metal sheet and intricate fluting. This armour style had such an influence over European armour that almost all armours created during the mid to late 16th Century are know as Maximilian period armours. The deep fluting to the armour gave strength without the use of thicker steel, making this helmet more comfortable to wear than many of the earlier great helms. This helmet weighs over 6 pounds. It is approximately 12 inches ear to ear. The many breath holes allow for maximum air flow.
