Ancient Egyptian Faience Wadjet (Eye of Horus) Amulet, 19th Dynasy, Circa 1200 BC This white faience amulet measures 1.3 cm across (it's nearly square) & shows a very distinct & decorated eye of Horus. This is one of the nicest small examples I've ever seen. It has a hole where it had been strung or sewn onto clothing, so it can easily be used in jewelry. from Wikipedia: Wadjet: The Eye of Horus is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health. The eye is personified in the goddess Wadjet . Funerary amulets were often made in the shape of the Eye of Horus. The Wadjet or Eye of Horus is "the central element" of seven " gold , faience , carnelian and lapis lazuli " bracelets found on the mummy of Shoshenq II .[3] The Wedjat "was intended to protect the pharaoh [here] in the afterlife" [3] and to ward off evil.
