Andy Van (Andrew) Tsinajinnie (1916 - 2000) Native American Artist from Scottsdale,Arizona and Santa Fe, New Mexico Signed lower right gouache /acrylic/ and/or oil (mixed media) on canvas board Measures 24" x 30" Excellent condition, edge wear, -L ook at photos carefully. Depicts brightly colored wild horses running through (what I think is ) the Painted Desert---great painting for the Native American Indian collector!!! Biography: Born in Rough Rock, Arizona, Andy Tsinnajinnie was an Indian artist and illustrator who maintained a studio in Scottsdale, Arizona.He was a member of the Navajo Salt River Bend Indian tribe, and the translation of his last name, which has been spelled in several ways, is "Little Grey." He studied art at the Fort Apache School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and graduated in 1936. He painted large murals for the WPA in Arizona and New Mexico including ones for Indian Schools. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the South Pacific, and after that was a full-time artist in Scottsdale.
