CATALANI, Angelica / WESLEY, Samuel Playbill for the last night but two at Covent Garden on Friday March 25th 1814, advertising 'A Grand Selection from the compositions of the most favourite Authors. - ancient and modern.' Catalani sings 'Holy, holy Lord,' 'Gratias agimus' and the Duetto 'Ah perdonna' from Handel's 'Acis and Galatea' accompanied by the great Samuel Wesley. Other performers include John Braham, Mrs Salmon and Mr. Kellner. 12½" by 7.5". In very nice state. Catalani sang Susanna in the first London performance of 'Le nozze di Figaro'. Samuel Wesley in 1814 was enjoying his most successful period and was playing a major role in almost every aspect of the musical life of London.
