Thanks for Stopping By! Primitive Dough Bowl Hi Folks, today I'm offering a wonderful piece of history that was found in an old farmhouse in the great old quaker state of Pa. This antique primitive dough bowl is from the late 1800's to very early 1900's. The grain is fabulous which makes me believe its tiger maple. It is unsigned. Huge and magnificent, this charmer weighs approx 4 1/2 lbs. This hand turned early dough bowl was made from a single piece of wood with beautiful rings and very out of round. The lip/rim measures 1 1/4" wide. This old beauty measures approx 17" x 15 3/4" and 5" deep! Imagine the work and love that went into making all that bread. The patina is dark, rich and warm that we all love so much. It is evident of the stories this early bowl could tell by the scrapes and marks inside, leaving behind so much character to enjoy. It's as if time stood still. It's in great antique condition, does have some cracks from aging and shrinkage, however still a very solid and stable piece of an era gone by. Bowls of this size are getting harder to find, a great piece of farmhouse history to add to your collection or to set on your table thinking of the stories that were told at theirs.
