This piece is "Sweet Arrival". One of my favorites, not only because of the details we've come to expect from Ferrandiz, but for the soft pastels used on this piece. It is a stork with a sweet babe in a basket.. The stork wears a little blue hat tied under her chin a a bow.The baby in the finely detailed basket is covered in a patterned blanket and wears a sweet smile. Precise carving defines the weave of the basket, the storks' feathers and feet, and the many tiny flowers spread around in this design. Truly the work of a master carver. The piece is 3" tall and made in the Dolomite Mountains in Northern Italy. It is signed by Ferrandiz on the bottom and also carries the ANRI logo. A wonderful gift for a new mom- to- be or a sweet addition to your own collection. I acquired it in Italy about 18 years ago, and it has always been displayed in a closed glass display case. It comes from a non smoking home and is in excellent condition. International bidders please contact seller for shipping charges. |
