Anthonie Pieter Schotel Oil on Board Painting Dordrecht Harbor Holland Grote KirkX XClick to Enlarge Click to EnlargePlease consider this nice oil on board painting by Dutch Artist Anthonie Pieter Schotel (1890 - 1958), depicting the Harbor at Dordrecht, The Netherlands. The background depicts The Grote Kerk of Dordrecht, officially the Church of Our Lady is a large church in the Brabantine Gothic style, and the largest church in the city. It was built between 1284 and 1470, though some parts are newer. This painting measures approximately 9.5 inches (24cm) by 11 13/16 inches (29.7cm) and is mounted in a frame measuring 12 3/16 inches (31cm) by 14 9/16 (37cm) inches. The painting needs cleaning and could stand a new frame as the one that it's in is damaged. This is signed in the lower right corner "AP Schotel" and is marked on the back "Gracht of Dordt" below that is "Harbor of Dordrecht, Netherlands" and "Anth P. Schotel, Original Laren". There is also a paper in the corner with more information, probably written by the former owner. This is not dated as far as I could see but probably dates to the1920s based on similar paintings that I've seen online.Born Dordrecht September 5, 1890, died Laren (N.H.) September 24, 1958.
