Antique Plaque Wow! This auction is for an extremely rare and very high quality antique cast iron royal crest gate plaque or sign. The large crest once hung at the front gate of a state building somewhere in the United Kingdom and the previous owner purchased the sign in the early 1970s and actually flew it back on the airplane when the airlines would let you do such things. He paid a great deal for it when he bought it from an antique dealer and then when he got it back here he paid over $1500 to have it painted and all the gold leafing re-done. The crest is obviously the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom and it was made by Walter MacFarlane in Glasgow back in the late 1800s. The piece is made of cast iron and weighs a TON – probably close to 120 lbs.+ so shipping will be expensive. International shipping will be by freight which is really expensive. Just a really amazing piece and probably one of the only ones in the United States – might be the only one. Measures about 41" long x 26" tall. Shipping will be around $180-280 but it may be more once I get it boxed up and such. Pick-up is definitely an option. In excellent condition with some minor paint loss here and there. Bidder pays $250.00 for shipping and handling via USPS Mail within the United States. I charge a 5.1% sales tax to all Wisconsin residents - sorry, it' read more
