Antique 1800's Wood Pocket Compass Sundial Hand Colored Amazing Shabby ChicMid 19th Century piece with European and America City LatitudesThis auction is an early pocket compass and sundial. I was told this is circa mid 1800's. It has a wooden case with paper covers on three of the sides, all hand colored. When closed it has the latitudes to America & European cities. There is a wire hook to keep it open. Glass is a little foggy. The compass reads, NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST. It does have a small peg that can be pulled out and inserted in the various holes around the compass. Made by well-known manufacturer Ernst Christoph Stockert from Nuremberg, Bavaria. Beautiful sundial with string gnomon and alphabetical list of towns in America & Europe with their corresponding latitudes.Quality item, the sort of antique sundial compass you only find once, definitely one for the serious collector!Approximate measurements are as follows:Length: 3"Width: 1"3/4Height when opened: 3"1/4Height when closed: almost 1"
