For your consideration is this lovely American Empire footstool, newly upholstered in a striated cotton velvet from Schumacher. The star, however, is the base, which is still in great condition and really shows off how gorgeous old wood can be. I believe it to be rosewood, due to the movement of the wood grain; it's possible, though, that it could be flame mahogany. The American Empire period was from 1810 - 1840. Two of the most dominant woods were rosewood and mahogany, and highly grained surfaces were most prized. The dimensions are 15" square x 11" high. The top is removable, but could be easily secured. It is also trimmed out in nailheads. Please note that I do not accept returns, but I want you to be happy with your purchase so review the listing carefully and contact me if you have questions.
