Antique Circa1822 J. Hall & Sons Oriental Scenery Series 'Mahomedan Tomb Mosque' Flow Blue Transfer 10" PlateThis antique Staffordshire Flow Blue J. Hall & Sons plate is in Excellent Condition with No Chips and No Cracks. The glaze is exceptionally thick and glossy. There is a small amount of glaze rub off on the very edge of the rim in a couple of places (SEE picture). There is a J. Hall & Sons Backstamp (SEE pictures). John Hall & Sons inherited the Sytch Pottery of Burslem, and Staffordshire, England in 1814, from the founding entity John & Ralph Hall, operating there until 1832. After the defection of Brother Ralph ca. 1821, the company name remained John Hall until 1822, and at that juncture, the "& Sons" was added to the stamp and was used until 1832 after which the company went bankrupt. The plates are Semi-porcelain with the a blue white glaze and cobalt blue transfer. The plate measures 9 15/16" in diameter (just a bit under 10").
