Antique 1855 FLOW BLUE Ironstone 16" Octagonal Turkey Platter, MADDOCK HINDUSTANClick images to enlargeDescriptionANTIQUE FLOW BLUE PLATTERLarge and striking antique ironstone flow blue turkey or meat platter measuring 15-3/4" long and 12-1/4" deep. Featuring an octagonal shape, it is 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" deep (a bit irregular in shape due to make) with a canted edge and deep center for collecting juices. Marked MADDOCK - pattern name is HINDUSTAN dating around 1855 - it is also incise marked as shown.In lovely condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs or discoloration, pattern is extremely detailed with vibrant cobalt blue flow against a shiny, creamy white - heavy bleeding through to the back - typical clay and glaze imperfections. I've shown a few of the stilt marks from production, and several pits that have tanned from age -- there is also a pit flaw on the back which is dark, but does not show from the front - none of these minor issues detract.
