For auction is an antique hand tinted photograph in a beautiful oval frame that probably is original. On first glance, you would swear it is an oil on canvas. The piece is signed and dated 'J Birn 1864' near the woman's left leg. The photo is not covered with glass but it is still in remarkable condition given its age. There is a scratch just above her head and two nicks to her left side. The frame has some minor loss of guilding on the high points of the left and right sides. It also has very tight stress cracks on the interior banding at 12,3,6, and 9 o'clock. These do not interfere with the integrity of the frame or detract from its beauty. The frame is 17 3/4" by 20 1/2" and it has its original wood back for the photograph. The dust cover is almost entirely missing. I have no idea who the subject may have been but she would be a great addition to your instant relatives wall. The shipping calculator will provide you witht he cost of delivery.
