Antique 1872 Holmans Edition The Holy Bible Illustrated Old Engravings & Hetler Family History VICTORIAN CLASP This is a comprehensive and nicely illustrated Antique Family Bible in a decent condition. This big 1872 Bible (this must be one of the first 'pictorial' family Bibles published) has a gold decorated leather cover with a completely functioning brass clasp on the site and a number of gorgeous full page black and white engravings (including a number from Gustave Doré). Besides a presentation of the Authorized/King James Version of the Old and New Testament and the Apocrypha, this Bible also contains lots of extra study information, like an introductory history of the Holy Bible, history of the books of the Bible, Testimony for the Bible, a section on Scripture difficulties, and extensive pronouncing (illustrated) Bible dictionary, a concordance and index and much more. I believe that all pages are present. The binding is loose and pages will come out. There is water marks, dog ears, and light small tears in some places. No bad tears though. Cover is worn as pictured. Clasp closes firm. Ownership inscription (dated 1831 through 1946 in family records) Published: 1872Publisher: A.J.
