ANTIQUE 1874 WEDGWOOD MAJOLICA PRIMROSE AND FERNS COBALT PITCHER Item Description I am pleased to offer this Antique 1874 Wedgwood Majolica Primrose Blossoms with Ferns Pitcher. Wedgwood Majolica pitcher with relief molded Primroses with Ferns on Cobalt Ground. A magnificent addition to any majolica collection. Josiah Wedgwood & Sons were some 10 years behind Minton & Co. in the production of majolica. Wedgwood glaze and modeling were more dense and formal than that of Minton, but there were many pieces that displayed the naturalism and humor of Minton shapes and was similar to those of Minton. By 1878, with the majolica market crowded with bright majolica glazes, Shell or Ocean patterns were glazed in argenta or, conversely, with turquoise or cobalt backgrounds. Retail Value Estimate: $700-$750 Weight: 1lb 8oz Measurements (LxWxH): 5.5 inches x 3 inches x 6 inches Please look closely at pictures. There are a few chips and hairline crack and doesn't hold liquid. Contact me with any questions.
