The inside of the clock reads: EIGHT DAY AND THIRTY HOUR O.G & OO.G. WITH & WITHOUT ALARMS GOTHIC SPRING EIGHT DAY & 30 HOUR SHARP & ROUND TOP WITH AND WITHOUT ALARMS Marine Lover Time Pieces, for Ships, Steamboats, Locomotives, and Dwellings, OCTAGON EIGHT DAY CLOCKS, SILENT AND STRIKING FOR HOTELS, OFFICES ETC ANSONIA CLOCK CO. ANSONIA, CONN. The magnificent eagle motif on the front of the door is evidence that this clock was likely issued in celebration of America's Centennial. It's fantastically patriotic with stars, shield and "E Pluribus Unum" banner. The case is in good condition with scratches on the back, something typical for a piece of this age.
