ANTIQUE, LATE 19TH CENTURY, 1880s ERA VICTORIAN GOTHIC ARCHITECTURAL SALVAGED ARCHIBALD KENRICK & SONS SOLID BRASS OR BRONZE DOOR KNOCKER MODEL NO. 419 Very beautiful, salvaged, and unique turn of the century Victorian Gothic door knocker. It's dated at the late 1800s - probably 1860-1880. Archibald Kenrick & Sons, a British manufacturer, known as the quintessential manufacturer in late 19th century door knockers. Though mostly found in cast iron, this door knocker appears to be brass plated over bronze, but we are unsure if it also could be solid brass. Creature features on knocker is difficult to identify - could be a lion, devil, demon or creature from Tibetan mythology. Would be an excellent addition to a historic renovation. Sure to serve as a great eye-catching piece on your front door! But don't reserve it for exterior purposes only...could use it as a statement piece inside too! Visible stamp reads No. 419. Less visible stamps read A.K. & Sons and also shows the British Patent Office Registration diamond stamp. Excellent condition - oxidation has began as photographs show. No nicks, scrapes, scratches or dents. Measures approximately 9 1/2"L x 3 1/2"W or 4 1/2"W at widest knocker part, and weighs 2lbs 4 oz.
